A quick, everyday spiced minced meat and potato curry that shows up on Pakistani dinner tables constantly because it is cheap, fast and endlessly comforting with roti or rice. Every household has its own ratio of potato to mince — this one keeps them roughly even.
Fry the onion
Heat the oil in a pan and fry the chopped onion until soft and lightly golden.
5 minBrown the mince
Add the minced meat, ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and cook, breaking up the lumps, until the mince is browned.
8 minAdd tomatoes and spices
Stir in the tomatoes, turmeric, chili powder, cumin, coriander and salt, and cook until the tomatoes soften into the mince.
5 minAdd potatoes and simmer
Add the potato cubes and water, cover the pan, and simmer until the potatoes are fully tender and the curry has thickened.
Garnish and serve
Sprinkle over the coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or steamed rice.
